Born in Ohio, Bachelor of Arts (Theatre and Business) Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky, I moved from Louisville to St. Petersburg in 1972 and taught drama at Gibbs High School. The next 19 years were spent as owner of retail stores (Joy Cards and Gifts, Potpourri, The Cricket Box, Snell Isle Fashions). It was during this time I was introduced to the beauty and intrigue of watercolor by representing and selling the works of several watercolor artists including Janice James, Nancy Schultz and Neil Adamson. I am currently an investment planner and artist.
Theatre set design sparked an interest in art, which lead to decorative endeavors including faux painting. Many influences from set designs and faux painting will be seen in my work. Gustav Klimt has influenced me to use gold leaf and patterns along with the human form. My series of watercolors on textured surfaces suggest a marble inlay effect. Other areas of painting interest include architecture and architectural nudes, the human figure, work from European travels and experimental pieces.
I studied with Augustine Ludovico. Watercolor has been my focus since 1999. My work hangs in private collections from San Diego to New York. |
