The award-winning artist has studied art history and fine arts at the University of Florida, the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, Salt Creek Academy, and the Arts Center in St. Petersburg. She has studied, as well, at the Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah and Peterson Art Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is attracted to many and varied subjects. In particular, she paints Italian landscapes derived from travels in Italy and a love of the country derived from knowledge of the language and a Ph.D. with a dissertation on Machiavelli. These Italian paintings emphasize the textures of peeling stucco and ancient stonework on buildings in perspective, creating an ambiance of age and decay, yet timelessness. Horses, another favorite subject, rooted in appreciation of the western areas of this country, are sometimes painted realistically, other times whimsically in experimental works that manipulate color and design. Acrylics and oils are her mediums of choice. She has exhibited in many venues in Florida and Utah, and her works are represented in many collections. |
