JULIUS LESSER |
|
Julius Lesser was born in the Bronx, New York. His interest in art started in his late twenties when his neighbor asked him to draw a picture for her school assignment. After attending an evening adult education course on painting, he decided to attend the Art Students’ League and the Frank Reilly Studio both on 57th Street in New York City. After moving to Rockland County, N.Y., he took additional art courses at Rockland Community College.
Mr. Lesser then moved to Florida where a miniature art show inspired him to begin creating miniature art. He studied with Jean Dunne, an accomplished miniature artist who has won numerous awards. Mr. Lesser has exhibited locally at the Dunedin Art Center, the Oldsmar City Hall, the St. Petersburg Art Center, Snooty Judy’s Art Gallery in Dunedin and the Miniature Art Society of Florida 2001 show in Bellair. The majority of Mr. Lesser’s paintings that have been purchased were commissioned.

On the Farm This painting was done many years ago in New Paltz, New York while on vacation in the 1970s. It was completed over a three day period. Whenever I look at it I see my children playing in the fields and myself carefree at that time and place. |
