Born in Michigan and raised in the Central Florida area, I moved to Saint Petersburg in 1984 with my husband and son. Although I have always enjoyed being creative I didn’t get serious about my art until the late 1980s.Since then I have continued to take classes and workshops with several Florida artists. Recently I illustrated a booklet for The Defenders of Wildlife.
I have been fascinated with art for as long as I can remember. I love to watch the drops of paint swirl and mix with the water. I feel it is important to be open-minded as there are no limits with art. I taught a watercolor class and tried to pass this on to my students.
My traditional art tends to be made up of local flora and buildings taken from photographs I take. For the past 20 years, I have painted a series of angels that I use for Christmas cards. The originals are framed and sold. During the summer I enjoy joining fellow artist Jean Hurst in Rockport Massachusetts to paint and play. I also belong to a fun group of artists that meet every Monday to paint. We call ourselves “The Summer House Gang” |
