Carol Zieres, a resident of Safety Harbor, Florida, was born and raised in Utica, New York. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Art and Biology from the State University of New York at Oswego and later earned her graduate degree from Chapman University in Orange, California. Carol is also a retired Army thirty-year Veteran, and since her discharge from Active Duty, she has been busy cultivating a second career in Fine Arts. Her specialty is Water-color painting and has turned many of her colorful landscape paintings in to post cards of her favorite scenes portraying “Olde Florida” at its best. Some characterize her art work as “Whimsical” or folk art similar to a Grandma Moses style. Re-cently, one of her watercolor paintings of downtown Safety Harbor was featured on the cover of the Safety Harbor Chamber of Com-merce business directory (2012 edition), a nationally circulated publication. Carol has traveled extensively, both in the USA and abroad with the Army, always with camera in hand taking pictures of scenic landscapes along the way. Having been stationed with duty in Europe, some of Carol’s favorites from her European col-lection consist of windmills, stone arched bridges, mountains, and castles in Germany, Holland, and Switzerland. Her paintings con-vey the illusion of looking out of an actual window and feeling as though you are standing in the landscape. In addition to her art studio work, Carol is also active in the local art community. She is a member of the Exhibiting Society of Artists (TESA) serving as Secretary of the Board, a voting member of the Safety Harbor Public Art Committee for the City Council, and a member of the Florida Watercolor Society. She is also a volunteer for the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce. In special recognition, Carol has been published in Marquis “Who’s Who in America” for three con-secutive years (2009, 2010, 2011), distinguished as one of the leading achievers from around the country.
