Even though I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, I never really did much with it. I dabbled in oils, taught art at Grace Lutheran School in St. Petersburg, and made several stained glass pieces for myself and family.
Several years ago at Mainsail, I saw a colored pencil painting by Melissa Miller Nece. I began going to her classes at Dunedin Fine Arts Center (DFAC) in 2009. I have been a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) and the regional chapter since that time.
In 2009 I won third place in the DFAC Student/Member Show, won second place in the same show in 2010, and honorable mention in the chapter show the same year. In 2010, I was accepted in to the national CPSA show and placed second ($1500) in the National CPSA Explore This! Exhibit in 2011. I won second prize in the Tesa 2012 Annual Show.
